FareHarbor works just fine on most devices, but if you use the Dashboard regularly as a logged-in user, we have a few hardware and software recommendations that will help you get the best experience.
Learn more about recommended system specifications by clicking into each section below.
Note: If you’re not on FareHabor yet, you may not have access to some of the links on this page.
Types of devices
Desktop computers & laptops
In general, we recommend Windows or Mac OS X-based computers purchased within the last two years. FareHarbor will also work on Chromebooks, although it’s important to note that printing from a Chromebook requires a wireless printer setup.
Suggested minimum system requirements are a 64-bit 1.8+ GHz processor, 8GB of RAM, and a display with a resolution of at least 1024×768.
We recommend Microsoft’s Surface tablets, particularly the Surface 3. Apple iPads released within the last few years also work well.
We suggest smartphones released within the last two years. Devices with at least 1GB of RAM work best.
FareHarbor.com is a responsive website, so it adapts to fit your screen, whether you’re using a smartphone, tablet, laptop, or desktop computer.
For computers running either Mac or Windows, we strongly suggest using Google Chrome as your browser. It’s fast, free, and automatically updates to the latest version.
Or, if you’re using another browser, make sure it meets these minimum requirements:
- Internet Explorer 11 or greater, or Microsoft Edge
- Firefox version 31 or greater
- Safari 6 or greater
For smartphones and tablets, we recommend using Google Chrome as your mobile browser. iOS/Apple users can also use Safari.
If you use an ad-blocker on your computer, we strongly suggest whitelisting fareharbor.com. We use words that are sometimes identified and blocked by these plugins (like “affiliate”) that may cause FareHarbor to not work correctly.
Machines should be scanned for viruses, malware, and malicious plugins regularly, as they can greatly affect web performance. We do warn against using Windows XP, as Microsoft ended support for it in 2014.
We recommend broadband internet for an ideal experience. Broadband internet is always connected (vs. dial-up) and runs at a download speed of at least 25 megabits per second (Mbps). If you’re not sure what your download speed is, you can check on fast.com.
Printers, cash drawers, and card readers
You may also want to use additional hardware such as receipt printers, cash drawers, or credit card swipers. In these cases, see our recommendations below.
We recommend the following receipt printers when using FareHarbor:

You can print theater-style tickets directly from FareHarbor using a Boca Lemur printer. See more details about purchasing and setting up a ticket printer here.
Before you can start printing tickets, be sure to contact FareHarbor Support to enable ticket printing on your Dashboard.
The Star Micronics CD3-1616 cash drawer is tested to work with FareHarbor. The cash drawer can be connected to your Star receipt printer and will automatically open when a receipt is printed, please keep in mind that this will only work on desktop computers, not tablets or iPads.

Credit card readers
We have two recommended credit card readers (swipers) depending on what type of device you use:
If you’d rather not purchase a card reader and have an iOS device, you may also use your iPhone or iPad’s built-in card scanning function to automatically enter card information when making a booking.
