Low-Light Training

Duration

2 Hours

About

  • Emergencies don’t just happen during the day, or in 100% light, and you need to know how to handle your firearm in the dark and have the right equipment to get the job done before the emergency happens. Our Low-Light Training courses will increase your confidence while working in an environment that you are most likely to encounter in a self-defense situation. You’ll learn the fundamentals of how to use a light properly, whether to choose a handheld or weapon-mounted light, and how to engage quickly in the dark. You’ll also discover how to effectively keep your firearm in the fight should you need to reload or clear a malfunction.
  • This training session is more of a workshop than a formal class. Participants will be given the opportunity to practice a variety of approaches to solving the problems of shooting accurately in low light situations. Then the participants will test their ability to apply their solutions and build confidence in their success.
  • The first practice session will start in daylight, where the participants will develop their ability to use unsighted firing, known as “point shooting.” After sunset, we will conduct two firing drills to test and score the point shooting technique. Then we will practice three styles of flashlight techniques: the FBI, Harries and the SureFire techniques.
  • After the practice session, each participant will shoot a course of fire that will test their ability to hit targets reliably using their chosen technique.
  • The evening will conclude with a novel shoot-off, where participants will have to identify and shoot a specific target before their partner, in a double-elimination competition. For their
effort, the winner will receive the praise and admiration of all participants.
  • Pistols will be holstered during all discussions, but all live-fire will commense from a ready position.
