CCW/NRA Personal Protection Outside the Home (2 Day Course)

Duration

16 Hours

About

  • The NRA PPOTH course is the premier concealed carry course and thus will focus on a safe and efficient draw stroke.
  • This class breaks the “square range mentality” with turning drills where students address targets on either side and behind them.
The students will learn flashlight techniques to effectively use a flashlight to identify and shoot a target in low-light conditions.
  • This dynamic course of fire includes shooting from cover, kneeling and prone, and shooting one hand unsupported.

As concealed carry becomes more available across America, this advanced course is needed. Students will be encouraged to develop their ability to hit targets quickly, but they must remain under control to ensure the safety of the other students as they work through these challenging drills.

The first class will begin at 8 a.m. at AllSafe Defense Systems. During lunch, we will transition to the Prado Family Shooting Park and shoot the course of fire there.

We will conclude the first level at that location. On Sunday at 8 AM, we will shoot the Advanced course of fire indoors at the On-Target in Laguna Niguel. (Maps will be provided.)

What to Bring

Please bring your centerfire handgun, at least three magazines (or three speedloaders for revolvers), and at least two hundred rounds each day (no aluminum, steel-cased, or steel-cored ammo).

You will need a strong-side holster without straps or a retention button. Friction-fit is the best retention. OWB is easier and quicker to reholster, but IWB is allowed (also allowed is appendix carry). Magazine carriers are important as well.

Prado is an outdoor range, so you must dress for the current weather conditions..A hat or cap is recommended for all students.

The low-light session will require a "tactical" flashlight (Surefire). Loaners will be available.

Eye and ear protection in mandatory. To hear the range commands, electronic hearing protection is best.
