The NRA Shotgun Instructor Course will not include the Basic Instructor Training (known as the “BIT”). instructor candidates will NEED TO HAVE THIS ACCOMPLISHED BEFORE THE SHOTGUN CLASS. In the classroom, the instructor candidates will practice the fundamentals of shotgun shooting, practicing the technique of teaching the “swing-through” method of lead.

Afternoon, the instructor candidates will go out to a skeet field and, starting with position seven, employ the “coach-pupil” teaching method and learn how to get their fellow instructors to hit the target in increasing difficulty. In the final discussion, the instructor candidates will evaluate the various tips they gained from each other and come to a consensus regarding the most effective coaching techniques.
