Summer Whale Safari-Andenes
With whale guarantee! | Duration 3-5 hours (depending on location of the whales)
Duration
- Around 3-5 hours (depending on location of the whales)
Tour Description
Half day whale watching trip in beautiful Andenes.
With whale guarantee!
- Children under 2 years old free of charge with two accompanying adults
Dogs are welcome. Pets need to stay out on the deck for allergy and hygiene reasons.
The trips typically last 3-5 hours, although this may vary depending on the location of the whales, weather conditions or other unforeseen circumstances. Please take this into consideration when making your travel plans; we spend a half day out at sea.
The safari begins with a presentation where one of our guides will inform you about the tour, safety on-board and the animals we can expect to encounter.
The Whale area
We head towards the underwater canyon of Bleik, in search of the highlight of the whale watching tour - the sperm whale (Physeter macrocephalus). There are at least 10 different whale species that are found in the area, including:
- Pilot whale (Globicephala melas)
- Minke whale (Balaenoptera acutorostrata)
- Orca or killer whale (Orcinus orca)
- Humpback whale (Megaptera novaeangliae)
- Atlantic white-sided dolphin (Lagenorhynchus acutus)
- Harbour porpoise (Phocoean phocoena)
Each safari is different, which makes the experience even more exciting! When we set out from the harbour, we never know exactly what kind of whales wait for us at the sea on that particular day.
On our way back to Andenes
On the way back, we will serve you a hot meal: our delicious vegetarian soup with bread. You can enjoy the boat ride and magnificent landscapes while summing up the experiences of the safari with our friendly crew.
During the trip we might encounter harbour seals or some arctic bird species; for example:
- White-tailed Eagle (Haliaeetus albicilla)
- Atlantic Puffin (Fratercula arctica)
- Cormorant and European shag (Phalacrocorax carbo and Phalacrocorax sinensis)
- Kittiwake (Rissa tridactyla)
- Common guillemot (Uria aalge)
- Razorbill (Alca torda)
