Arid Recovery sunset tours operate on Wednesdays and Fridays throughout April and October. Contact us for availability outside of these times.

• Pets are not permitted on the reserve
• Minimum of 3 people required for a tour to run and a maximum of 8 (alternatives can be made for larger groups upon request)
• Tours can take up to three and a half hours
• It is a 22km drive from Roxby Downs main street (Richardson Place). After leaving the town centre, you will head north along Olympic Way for approx 10kms, continue through Olympic Dam township, then turn right onto the Borefield Road. Follow the road for 12 kms to the Arid Recovery Reserve gate which is on the left hand side. Your tour guide will meet you there.
• Once at the Reserve, you will take a guided tour through some of the unique habitats of Australia’s arid zone before stopping at the viewing platform to watch the spectacular desert sunset.
• At dusk, we will travel through the dunes to get up close and personal with some of the Reserve’s amazing animals, including burrowing bettongs and spinifex hopping mice.
• The road to the Reserve is unsealed but accessible to 2WD unless it has rained heavily in which case the Manager or Tour Co-ordinator will advise of either cancellation of tours, or requirements for 4WD access

What to bring

• Sturdy enclosed footwear

• Warm jacket
• While not essential visitors may also like to bring a torch and camera.

This tour requires a reasonable level of fitness as roughly 4kms of walking is required at the reserve.

Tours are subject to road and weather conditions and may be cancelled and refunded on the day.
