Family Paddleboard Sessions (7+ yrs)

All levels • 7+yrs • Fun & Games • Love SUP

A session tailored to familes.

Duration

2 Hours

About

Sessions designed for families (minimum book - 2) Children must be accompanied by a parent / legal guardian.

It takes place in the stunning North Norfolk Salt marshes and coastline and not only will you learn the essential skills and put them into practise whilst getting deeper into the beautiful coastal area, but we will cover how to keep your children safe when you paddling independently.

And we'll make sure the sessions have that fun and games element to keep children entertained.

By the end of the session, we would like you to feel (and be) confident that you could competently and safely practice your skills and enjoy paddleboarding independently. But no pressure - We're always on hand for extra questions guidance and future sessions.

Please note: For children under 10, we have a reduced wind range for safety and also ask that parents & guardians are confident they can tow their child, should they not be able to engage with the session.

If you ARE concerned that engaging with the session may be a bit much in a group you may always book a private family session so that we can make sure instructors can dedicate enough time to your family's safety and enjoyment! We put on a special family price for private family groups of 4 or more to make sure that everyone can access the water and experience the beauty of our area from the water

In all cases, if you are not sure, we really do want to accommodate you and young children, so please give us a call and we can figure the best way with you!

Prerequisites: None required

Who is this for: Families with younger children or with children who you feel would prefer to play more games and splash about more rather than go on a longer tour, or who may prefer quieter and calmer sessions.

Sessions are designed for over 7s, who must be accompanied by a parent / legal guardian over 18, who is entirely responsible for their engagement, behaviour, and safety.
.

What will the session include

Whilst the sessions will depend on the group and conditions on the day, being tailored to the individual and group needs, things covered include:

1) Water safety briefing
2) Paddling kneeling down
3) Paddling standing up
4) Basic paddling – forwards, backwards and turning
5) Launching safely
6) Self rescue techniques
7) Local knowledge - top tips and safety measures for NW Norfolk's coast
8) Action plan for further paddling (where can you go, what can you do next!)
9) Small group sizes - max 6 per instructor.

What to bring

Please wear clothing suitable for getting wet! This can be a wetsuit if you have one, or active wear and layers. We highly recommend wetsuits for children and we do not have these in stock. (we can provide adult wetsuits)

Bare feet are fine, but plimsolls / water shoes are also good and provide a little extra protection from stones and shells!

Please bring water as a 'must' and a snack as a 'nice to have'.

Sunscreen - a must!

Hat / sunnies - a good idea weather dependent. If you are going to wear sunglasses, a strap is ESSENTIAL - they come flying off when anyone falls in

A waterproof bag is a good idea (amazon has a selection of great and cheap dry sacks with a shoulder strap) As these will enable you to carry a spare jumper / jacket incase you get chilly, and your water / snacks etc.

We don't advise bringing phones and valuables as dropping them in the sea makes very sad faces - and we hate that. But if you do wish to take pictures, please make sure that you have appropriate waterproof cases, bags leashes etc. There is a likelihood of you getting wet, and your valuables need to stay dry.

Post session, you are likely to need a towel, something to change into in case you are wet, and maybe a drink and some food!
