Embark on a 3-day, 2-night guided backpacking journey through Yellowstone National Park, where you’ll hike off the beaten path, camp under the stars, and explore stunning geysers and diverse wildlife.

What's included
1-2 Wilderness Guides
Backpacking, Camping and Group Gear - backpack, tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, chair, eating and cooking gear and more.
Backcountry Gourmet Meals prepared by guides - Lunch Day 1 through Breakfast day 3 (We are able to accomodate for food restrictions).
Packing List will be provided for personal items needed/recommended
Itinerary and all logistics for backcountry camping and hiking will be provided for the group by Breakwater Expeditions
What's not included
Travel costs to and from the meeting location.
Guide gratuities.
Any costs incurred due to travel interruptions, injury, or sickness that may cause disruption to your trip. We recommend travel insurance and can provide you with a recommendation for obtaining an accurate policy for your trip.
Itinerary
Day 1 - Meet your guide at your designated trailhead around 10 a.m. Your guide will help you organize your belongings into your backpack and do a pack fitting with you. Once the group is packed and ready to go, you will begin your hike into your first night's camp.
Guides will teach and support the group in setting up camp. There will be an opportunity for exploring the area around camp and looking for wildlife.
Day 2 - An early morning option to rise before the sun to see any wildlife that may be present. Coffee and Breakfast to follow. Group will either stay at this camp and do a day hike or move camps depending on itinerary obtained from park.
Day 3 - Today we will spend some time in the morning looking for wildlife before packing up and heading back out to our vehicles at the trailhead.
Meals provided will be Day 1 - Lunch, Dinner, Dessert, and snacks; Day 2 - Breakfast, Lunch Dinner, Dessert and snacks; Day 3 - Breakfast, Lunch, and snacks

The wild lands of Yellowstone are unpredictable and full of surprises. Our hope is to spot wildlife, explore geysers, and enjoy the beauty that this landscape provides.
Guides with Breakwater Expeditions are not your typical leaders. Our guides are passionate about supporting people to find their comforts in the backcountry, make new connections within a like-minded group, explore the world around them, and to find growth within ourselves to create more experiences in nature.

Check-in details
Itinerary details will be determined in March 2024 when the Park Service opens permits for the season. At that point Breakwater Expeditions will develop an itinerary fit for the group and goals of the individuals signed up.
What to bring
We will provide you with a packing list appropriate to your trip. Breakwater Expeditions will provide technical gear for camping and backpacking. We only require participants to bring appropriate clothing and toiletries for their experience with us.
If you have your own camping and backpacking gear we will support you in making sure it is appropriate for our itinerary so that you can use your own gear.

Disclaimers
The outdoors are unpredictable. Itineraries are subject to change. Weather can and does happen while we are in the backcountry and therefore we must make sure we have appropriate gear to withstand the elements. Your guide will make sure that you have the items you need in case there is inclement weather.
Cancellations
Trips canceled 90 days or more from the departure date are eligible for a refund minus a cancellation fee of 15% of the full trip cost. Cancellations made between 90 and 60 days before the departure date are eligible for a refund minus a 25% cancellation fee. Trips canceled within 60 - 45 days of the departure date are subject to 35% cancellation fee. After 45 days your trip is non-refundable. You may choose to avoid the cancellation fee by putting your full trip credit towards a future departure date.
After the deposit, a final payment should be made within 60 days of departure date. If you would like an option for more structured payment plans, please visit our financing site to apply for a payment plan.
