A 2 hour walking tour that showcases the civilians of Gettysburg who witnessed the horror of war, highlighting historic buildings and their importance along Chambersburg Street.
The research is about rediscovering first hand accounts describing civilian life and the musings of soldiers who tactically and tragically occupied the streets of Gettysburg those three long days July 1863.
This is a leisurely paced walk… No hiking… on paved roads…wheelchairs are manageable.
Meeting
The tour will start outside 11 Lincoln Square. We will meet by the Statue of Lincoln and the benches.
The tour will proceed East. We will follow York Street to the 1863 edge of town highlighting areas on what was the eastern entrance to the town. Using the same route to return to the Square, we will focus on the people that lived in these homes in 1863.

We recommend that you use the Race Horse Ally Parking Garage behind the Gettysburg Hotel
Or park on an NPS lot and take the Lincoln Line trolley into town.
