What to Expect

Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes - 2 hours

Length: 2 mile walk with stops, no options for sitting

Price: $25 adult, $20 child

Time: 9:00 AM & 4:30 PM

2024 Tour Schedule: May - October, Saturday & Sunday, and by request

Meeting Location: Hawkins Nature Preserve, 1490 South Cedar Street, Cortez, Colorado

Ending Location: Same as meeting location

FAQs

  • Can I bring my dog? YES! Please let us know if you would like to take your dog on our tour ahead of time so we may alert other guests!

  • What if it rains? Hawkins Preserve is beautiful even in the rain, tours will not be canceled due to weather. (In extreme cases with lightning or excessive storms, tours will be cancelled and refunded.)

  • Where can I park my car? There is a large parking lot at the trailhead.

  • What age is appropriate for this tour? All ages are welcome on the tour.

  • Is this wheel chair accessible? We can modify the tour for wheel chair & limited mobility. Please contact us to request a specialized tour.

More Information

  • Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Tours run RAIN or SHINE. Bring appropriate clothing!
  • Dog Owners: You are welcome to bring your dog, however, please let us know ahead of time to alert other guests and make sure to bring a leash!
  • Guests are encouraged to ask questions along the way. As a Cortez local, I know a lot of history/folklore of the area and am passionate about sharing this special place with others!
