Your tour guide is award-winning historian Rick Britton. A much-sought-after speaker and guide, Britton has penned scores of central Virginia history articles, and three books including 2015’s Virginia Vignettes Vol. I): Famous Characters & Events in Central Virginia History.
About Your Guide
A historian of the Old Dominion, Rick Britton specializes in 18th- and 19th-century Virginia history. His areas of expertise include the American Civil War, the life and times of Thomas Jefferson, and the history of the central Piedmont. With over 200 published articles and essays under his belt, he’s the author of Albemarle & Charlottesville: An Illustrated History (2006), the award-winning Jefferson: A Monticello Sampler (2008), and Virginia Vignettes (Vol. I): Famous Characters & Events in Central Virginia History (2015). Along with his writing, Rick conducts battlefield tours, teaches Virginia history classes, organizes history programming, illustrates maps for history books and web-sites, and lectures frequently on a wide range of Virginia history topics.
