The Kayak Experience
The San Juan Island Full Day Kayaking Tour is a classic. Departing from San Juan County Park, we travel south along the west shore to Dead Man's Bay for lunch. During the break, we offer a short hike to Lime Kiln State Park and the Lime Kiln Lighthouse. Once back on the water we continue exploring and seeking wildlife until we return to San Juan County Park. We chose to paddle the west side of San Juan Island not only for its amazing beauty, but it offers the best chance to encounter whales from a kayak.
We operate with small group sizes to ensure you can easily communicate with your kayak guide, reduce our impact on beaches and wildlife, and the overall safety of the groups. Our goal is to provide experiences, not cattle drives.
Need a private tour for a larger group? Contact us and we will work to set up the best kayak experience for your group.
Your kayak guide is key to having the best kayak experience.
All of our kayak guides complete very rigorous training. Your guide will be safe and knowledgeable in all things sea kayaking. Guides complete a full naturalist and island history training. Once guides have graduated from our training they are more than equipped to handle any situation on the water.
The Kayaks and Equipment
We use Fiberglass Two-Person Kayaks for this kayak adventure. The kayaks are comfortable and very seaworthy. We do not use plastic kayaks for any of our west-side kayak routes. Two-person plastic kayaks are too flexible and less efficient when we have more challenging conditions.
We also include Waterproof Jackets and Pants, and Dry Bags at no additional fee.
