Introduction to Kayaking

Safety; Weather & Tides, Gear and Paddle Strokes
This is an intro to kayaking class for ages 12 and up.
What is covered:
- Kayak History, hull shape, paddle and safety gear
- Planning a trip: weather, wind and water hazards
- Basic paddle strokes and practice time on the water.
- Review of rescue techniques.
Children must be accompanied by a legal guardian.
Children must be able to swim.
What to Bring
- Water shoes that stay on your feet (Closed toe recommended)
- Water and a snack
- Sun protection: hat, sun shirt, sun lotion, sun glasses
- Dress for weather: if it’s cool, overcast or cold, bring a warm layer
- Dry bag for your personal belongings
It is recommended that personal items be secured in your vehicle or a dry bag, we are not responsible for any lost, stolen, or destroyed items.
