Places to Paddleboard
Cherry Lake, available year-round
This is a go-to for those wanting to escape Yosemite's summer crowds. Cherry Lake offers a variety of recreation opportunities. We recommend packing a delicious lunch from our General Store and renting a paddle board and fishing equipment from the Recreation Desk.
At the front of the lodge turn left and continue to the stop sign at Camp Mather. Turn left and follow Cherry Lake Road for 7 miles. Take a sharp right at the stop sign, descending to the Tuolumne River. After crossing the bridge turn left at the stop sign. Continue on Cherry Lake Road for 17 miles before turning onto Cottonwood Road. You will park at the Cherry Lake boat ramp.Tenaya Lake, summer only
Boasting as Yosemite's largest lake, Tenaya Lake is a paradise surrounded by large granite domes. This crystal clear lake is fed by the melting snow of Yosemite's tallest peaks. While paddling, you get exclusive views of Tenaya Lake's past. Below the water you will find the remnants of past shorelines where trees once stood.
From our bike shed take a left onto Evergreen Road.
Just before you pass beneath the wooden ‘Gateway to Hetch Hetchy’ sign look for fire road 1S86 on your left.
Follow the Forest Road for 0.5 mile before reaching Mud Lake. Keep an eye out for loose rocks and tree roots along the road.
