The Harbourmaster - Gold

Setting off from Porthmadog and travelling 25 miles, coast to coast, across the foothills of Snowdon to its destination beside the harbour and castle at Caernarfon, The Harbourmaster is one of our two premier services that offer a full day out on the beautiful Welsh Highland Railway… make it extra special by travelling Gold!
Travel in one of our luxurious First Class Pullman carriages, modern in years but ageless in quality, which have been expertly constructed and finished in our Boston Lodge workshops and offer passengers a golden opportunity to travel in style (please note, the First Class Carriage on this service has capacity for 14 seats in the Observation end, therefore two separate bookings will share this space)

Journey

• Journey duration – approx. 6 hours 20 minutes including an interval break at Caernarfon to explore the historic town with its famous castle, narrow streets, small shops and market square before the train heads back to Porthmadog.
• The journey is much enhanced by the Traveller’s Guide and the ‘FfWHR Explore’ app, which are available to pre-book and download respectively.

Catering

• Picnic baskets, Children’s lunchboxes and Cream Teas are available to purchase in advance.
• Spooner’s Cafe / Bar open from 09:00 – 21:00, serving breakfasts, light bites and evening meals, with take away options available. Caffi De Winton (Caernarfon Station) is open from 09:00 – 17:00, serving breakfasts and light bites, with take away options available.
• Cold drinks both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, a range of snacks, including sandwiches, available on board the train.

Toilets

• Small toilet cubicle on board train, with main toilet facilities available at both Porthmadog and Caernarfon stations.

Dogs

• Dogs are not allowed in First Class with the exception of Guide Dogs. Dogs are allowed in standard class and require a ticket.
