Ghost Ranch Museums and O'Keeffe Landscape Tour
Abiquiu, NM
About
First, in the newly refurbished Florence Hawley Ellis Museum of Anthropology, learn about the Gallina people; a pre-puebloan culture that lived in the area from 'drought to drought'. Also on view until December 2024 is Cara Romero's exhibition "The Gathering".
In the Ruth Hall Museum of Paleontology Museum, learn about Triassic dinosaur finds from Ghost Ranch, including the spectacular discovery of over a thousand intact Coelophysis skeletons excavated from a quarry near Kitchen Mesa. Also, see genuine fossils that have been removed from the 8-ton quarry block on display.
Then, board the bus for the Georgia O'Keeffe Landscape Tour. On this narrated tour we drive out into the red hills and colorful cliffs at Ghost Ranch, looking at reproductions of landscape paintings as well as the outside of her home in the desert.
