Labor of Love Volunteer Program at Gilcrease Nature Sanctuary
Thank you for your interest and consideration in joining our exceptional team of volunteers.
Please read the following carefully so you know whether our values match your objectives:
Our mission is to educate people about responsible pet ownership. Our goal is that every person thoroughly researches and deeply contemplates a pet before making the life-time commitment to their care.
We are a team of serious-minded adults on a mission.
-Please be waiting outside the front gate at 8am. We are very busy with our animals in the morning so if you are late, we might not be available to let you in for a while.
- No minors under the age of 13 (Sorry!).
- Minors, on their first day, must be accompanied by their guardian.
Please only attend if feeling physically healthy and do not volunteer if feeling ill or injured.
Labor or Love is just that, laborious! This includes raking, shoveling, scrubbing, hosing…. usually dirty work and mostly outside.
Please:
- Wear weather-appropriate clothing and shoes that can get dirty.
- Keep personal belongings at home or in the car as we can not ensure its safety.
- Bring water and a snack if needed
- Bring work gloves or tools if you want to, but anything left behind goes into our donations!
Still interested?! Please select a day on the Labor or Love calendar and self-book!
This is a Level 1 volunteer. Level 1 is great for volunteers with busy lives that can't commit to our Long Term volunteer schedule, or maybe you just need some community service hours for your school or job. Feel free to discuss Long Term volunteer opportunities with your Volunteer Leader of the day. You must pass orientation and training before joining the Long Term Team. This is limited and currently invite only.
