Want to try out your own unguided kayaking tour? Then reserve your kayak rental online or over the phone and have fun kayaking and exploring individually!

If you have never kayaked we recommend a guided tour for your first trip on the river.

This rental gives you the freedom to really craft your own excursion. You will put in at our Hut and paddle upstream at your own pace. When you get tired, just turn around and drift back down to our hut. This rental is by the hour so just keep adding time as you want it! Travel through the protected wildlife refuge dominated by bald cypress, water tupelo and isolated strands of rare Atlantic White Cedar.

With your rentals you may see:

• Birds such as Herons, Egrets, Wood Storks, Bald Eagles, Osprey, Ducks, Prothonatary Warblers (aka Swamp Canaries), Woodpeckers
• Animals such as Snakes, Beaver, Otter, Deer, River Otters, the occasional Alligator, numerous species of Turtles, Barred Owls, Mississippi Kites, and Coopers Hawks
• A multitude of Neotropical migratory songbirds

The banks of the Waccamaw are an important travel corridor for the rare Coastal Black Bear, wild turkey, wild boar and deer.

Paddle through the peaceful waters and enjoy the solitude and serenity that the last remaining pieces that Heritage Trust land has to offer. Don't forget your camera for photo opportunities abound!
