About
Built by the Beatties in 2008, the River Oak Cottage Tea Room at Hopsewee Plantation features a three-course Southern tea service, a full Lowcountry lunch menu and Wine by the River happy hours on the Santee River waterfront with al fresco, in-season charcuterie boards—all served with Southern Hospitality to a “Tea”
Our lunch menu features Lowcountry favorites - from Shrimp 'n Grits to Soup and Sandwiches - and great desserts - all our food is prepared from scratch right here at Hopsewee!
Our an elegant tea is in the English tradition with a flavorful Southern inspiration. We offer a delicious assortment of both sweet and savory foods along with over a dozen varieties of English teas.
We are also excited to offer our very own Hopsewee Blend House Tea, which has been blended exclusively for Hopsewee Plantation.
Please book 15 minutes after the end time of your tour and allow 1 hour for your meal if you are eating before your tour or class

What to Wear
• The plantation is located in a beautiful natural setting, which unfortunately includes mosquitoes. Weather permitting, the class is held outside on the porch. We do spray for mosquitoes regularly, but insect repellent is helpful for those who are sensitive.
• Please wear comfortable shoes but do not wear high heels, as they will damage the hardwood floors and are uncomfortable while touring the grounds.
Additional Tips

• Reservations are encouraged as space is limited and we occasionally have large groups that reserve the tea room.
Accessibility Information
• The Hopsewee house tour includes seven steps to be navigated for entry to the house. There is a full flight of stairs inside to be navigated for the upstairs part of the tour. Handrails are available for both sets of stairs. If you have accessibility concerns, please call us at (843) 546-7891. You may also add a note to us when you book your tickets.
• Accessible parking spots are available at Hopsewee Plantation. Please call us at (843) 546-7891 when you arrive and we will assist you.
• Walking assistance devices are welcome at Hopsewee. Some larger walking assistance devices may not fit through some doorways inside the historic home. We ask that you check ahead of time by calling us at (843) 546-7891. You may also add a note to us when you book your tickets.
