Activity details
Take a cruise from Southend Pier to the eerie World War 2 Maunsel Forts, called the Red Sand Towers. The trip will also pass the Montgomery Wreck to closely examine the masts while they are still visible.
Take a three-hour cruise from Southend Pier to the Eerie World War 2 Maunsel Forts, called the Red Sand Towers.
These historic monuments stand in the estuary some 9 miles from Southend and 5 miles from Whitstable. It will take approximately an hour to reach the Towers and will pass by the Mulbury Harbour (Pheonix unit) and Shoebury Boom before crossing the shipping channel towards the Isle of Sheppey.
You will get a chance to take plenty of photos in and around the towers as our vessel is small enough to pass between and under the structures. (We do not allow anyone to board the structures)
If you're an avid photographer, grab your long lenses to see if you can snap photos of the Peregrine Falcons.
Upon our return, we will pass via the SS. Richard Montgomery before crossing back towards Southend Pier.
What's included
Ticket prices include access on to the pier and use of the pier train.
Onboard facilities include a Bar, selling soft drinks and light snacks. A small Toilet is also available onboard.

PLEASE NOTE: The boat does not leave the shoreside end of the pier. It leaves from the "sea" end of the pier, known as the pier head. You should ensure that you leave plenty of time to reach the end of the pier. Arriving at the pier 30-45 minutes is recommended.
Pier entry and use of the train are included in your ticket.
There is no need to queue to buy pier entry tickets. Proceed straight to train boarding and show your boat tickets. Trains depart every 30 minutes leaving on the hour and 30 minutes past and takes approximately 10 minutes to reach the boat.
If you wish to walk the longest pier in the world this may take you 20-25 minutes.
For example, for a 11:45am boat departure, you should be at Southend pier for the 11:00am pier train departure. Any later train will result in you missing the boat. Refunds will not be provided.
Special requirements
Prams and Push chairs are permitted however, must remain collapsed and stored under your seat during the crossing.
Restrictions
Dogs and pets are not permitted on this trip.
Any passenger returning to the boat under the influence of alcohol will not be permitted to board the boat. Refunds will not be given.
Disclaimers
Please note that from March 2024, the SS. Richard Montgomery is expected to have work carried out to remove her masts. Following the commencement of the work, we may be required to deviate away from the wreck site and following completion of the work we cannot guarantee that anything other than the Exclusion zone will be visible on the surface at any state of the tide.
Due to the exposed nature of the Redsand Towers, This tour may be cancelled due to wind and sea state. Should it be necessary to cancel the tour you will be offered the ability to rebook or a gift voucher to use on any future tour with us.
Cancellations
Cancellations and Refunds Policy
Jetstream Tours Ltd reserve the right to alter your booking time or day of your departure should weather deteriorate and/or be deemed unsuitable for safe passage. In this event, Jetstream Tours reserves the right to issue a gift voucher valid for 1 year or an alternative tour.
Any requests to change a booking time/date by the passenger must be a minimum of 7 days in advance such alterations are at the discretion of Jetstream Tours Ltd and will be subject to a £25 admin fee and availability.
Jetstream Tours Ltd will not be liable for any expense, delays, disappointment, inconvenience, or any other consequential loss suffered by you in the event of a cancellation or postponement of a booking.
All bookings are non-refundable, non-transferable and cannot be re-sold without prior consent of Jetstream Tours Ltd.
If Jetstream Tours Ltd reasonably believes that a booking has been re-sold without prior consent or has been purchased from any individual, company or organization other than Jetstream Tours Ltd, then the booking may be cancelled.
Jetstream Tours Ltd will only refund the cost of any cancelled booking if another tour cannot not be offered, this remains the discretion of Jetstream Tours Ltd, and the cancellation has been made by Jetstream Tours Ltd not you.
Purchases made more than 120 days prior and Gift Vouchers are non-refundable.
Private hire deposits are non-refundable but may be transferred to a later date, subject to availability and the discretion of Jetstream Tours limited.
If cancellation is nessessary, you will be notified no later than 8pm the night before departure and will be offered an alternative date or a Gift voucher valid for 1 year to use on any future tour.
Trip Protection
Trip protection must be added at checkout at the initial transaction for this product to be used.
If Trip protection has been added, you may rebook or change your tour up to 1 hour before your tour commences, free of any admin fees. You may also choose to have the value of the tour refunded to your original payment method or to a gift card less the trip protection charge.
This may be used for any reason including weather related but does not affect your ability to rebook if the tour if the tour is cancelled by us in advance for weather related cancellations.
Trip protection covers only the tour operated by Jetstream Tours Ltd and no other service or tour.
Rebooking
In order to rebook tours, this must be conducted by the lead party member b using "reply to all" in this confirmation email at least 1 hour in advance of any tour. (or via the Rebook my tour button on your confirmation notes). Admin fees may apply.
