About
“Explore untouched parts of Lake Clark National Park, and immerse yourself in this rugged, yet beautiful mountain environment.”
Bottomline… This adventure is beyond AMAZING! You are literally surrounded by mountains, glacier, lakes, streams, and alpine tundra that makes you want to roll down hills like a kid again.
This trip is for crushers, explorers, adventurers, and thrill-seekers alike. It is also a family-friendly adventure for 14 years +, although younger may be considered. This adventure is strenuous, with a flexible, freestyle pace, offering plenty of rest breaks and opportunities for pictures and relaxation.
Here’s a snapshot… Your adventure begins on day 1 with a group orientation meeting, and welcome lunch. Then we load up the floatplane for a scenic flight into Lake Clark National Park. Our plane lands in a high-alpine lake with a water color that defies explanation. You are now in the Alaska Range.
Each day will bring forth a new adventure as you explore this massive mountainous landscape. The crown jewel, that everyone is excited to explore, are the enormous glaciers that surround our camp on multiple sides. Not only do you get to see the glacier, you’ll get to hike on the glacier, and if you’re really lucky you can even go under the glacier! Yes, under the glacier – we scout out the most epic ice caves on this adventure! If conditions are safe, we’ll guide you into the ice caves to explore and feel what it’s like to be inside of a glacier.
Surrounding our base camp are glacier scoured mountain tops and alpine tundra that stretches for miles and miles. This ultimately leads to endless hiking routes through the tundra, up and over mountain tops, and around lakes and streams. You simply have to see this place for yourself to fully experience the sheer beauty, and accompanying feeling of really being alive!
So, how does this work? Each day we start out with hot drinks and a delicious, hot breakfast. You load up your day-packs for days objective, then off we go. Lunch is in the field somewhere epic; on a mountain top, the edge of a cliff overlooking a glacier, or even on the glacier. No matter what, it’s a lunch experience like none other.
At the end of each fulfilling day, we’ll return to our base camp for more hot drinks, and a backcountry dinner sure to please. At the end of the trip, our floatplane comes back to take us back to the mainland, flying over the zone you just trekked around – this is amazing accomplishment!
