A Farm of Long Ago - K-2
Students will learn about people living in the Wolastoq River Valley in the 19th century; how they lived, how they farmed, how they played, and problems that needed solving! Emphasis in this tour is placed on animals and their uses, relying on nature, and working together.
Community Members & Lifestyle - Grades 3-5
Students will learn about the people that make up New Brunswick in the 19th century; who was already here, who came from away, what they did, and why. This tour focuses on the first and founding peoples of NB, the roles and trades people performed in the Victorian Era, and a brief introduction to navigation.
Resources, Fashion, & Status - Grades 6-8
Students will learn about craftsmanship, travel, fashion, and skin colour as status markers in the Victorian Era, and the conflicts that arise when migrating peoples mixed. This tour focuses on NB's social conflicts in the 19th century, often due to racism, or competing interests for the use of natural resources.
A Community of the Past in NB - Grades 9-12
Students will learn about the differences in lived experience between Wolastoqiyik, Loyalists, Planters, Acadians, Irish settlers, Black refugees, and prospects for young people their age in 19th century NB. It focuses on what paths they could choose, and what would have limited them in the era when Canada began to form its national identity.

FAQs
Can tour start times be adjusted?
We cannot start a tour before 10am, as the village is not open, and there may still be maintenance staff and vehicles on site. We have start time options at 10am, 11am, and noon, each can shift approximately 15 minutes in either direction. If you know you will need to shift your tour time, let us know as soon as possible so we can be ready. If you must leave by a certain time, we can also shorten the tour if necessary, again, please let us know as soon as you can if you need to shorten a tour, so that we can warn the guides.
Can you bring your lunch?
Yes, you can bring a lunch. There are several outdoor picnic areas in the park. If you have an especially large group, or are worried about the weather, you can request to use the Learning Center indoor picnic area. Please note your request under "Additional info". If it is available, we will reserve it for you. You can also book tours starting at different times, have half the group do the tour first, while the other eats, then switch when the time comes for the second tour.
Can homeschool groups book this tour?
Yes, homeschool groups are considered educational groups and can book these tours. To book please choose the Homeschool Group option. If you have more than 30 participants, consider booking a second tour at the same time. This will allow us to allot a second tour guide for your group. One person must be responsible for booking the tour.
How can I book for a very large group?
You can book multiple groups at once and have students split between several guides, or book multiple time slots, and have some explore the far side of the village or eat their lunch while they wait for their tour, or once they have finished their tour. Alternatively, if you don't need a guide and prefer to tour around in smaller groups, you can always book a Self-Guided Visit. There is no limit to group size for Self-Guided or Teacher-Guided visits.
Does King's Landing offer food service for Education tours?
At this time, we do not offer food service for Education tours. We do have two restaurants on site if students or chaperones wish to purchase food, but these services are not equipped to feed hundreds at once. We suggest you bring bagged lunches and use our picnic areas if you have a large group and wish to eat during your stay.
