• At the Conservation and Native Species habitats, you can learn about the unique kiwi and observe natural behaviours in the purpose built state-of-the-art nocturnal Kiwi House. Visitors can also get up close to native New Zealand wētā, geckos and invertebrates and the resident kōkopu.

• Discover the past and present stories of people, places and treasures at Whangārei Museum. Gain a sense of place through early settler history, beautiful taonga Māori and natural history displays. Whangārei Museum also hosts numerous temporary exhibitions throughout the year.

• Explore the Heritage Park, Clubs and Historic Buildings in 25 hectares of native bush and stunning park-like grounds, including the 1886 “Glorat” Clarke Homestead, Whangārei Women’s Jail, Oruaiti Chapel, Jane Mander Study, Riponui Pah School and Whangārei Women’s Jail.
