Get Curious at Kiwi North. Learn about our native species in their natural habitats, experience Northland's only nocturnal Kiwi House, discover Whangārei Museum, and explore the 25-hectare Heritage Park, Clubs and Historic Buildings.
At the Conservation and Native Species habitats, you can learn about the unique kiwi and observe natural behaviours in the purpose built state-of-the-art nocturnal Kiwi House. Visitors can also get up close to native New Zealand wētā, geckos and invertebrates and the resident kōkopu.
Discover the past and present stories of people, places and treasures at Whangārei Museum. Gain a sense of place through early settler history, beautiful taonga Māori and natural history displays. Whangārei Museum also hosts numerous temporary exhibitions throughout the year.
Explore the Heritage Park, Clubs and Historic Buildings in 25 hectares of native bush and stunning park-like grounds, including the 1886 “Glorat” Clarke Homestead, Whangārei Women’s Jail, Oruaiti Chapel, Jane Mander Study, Riponui Pah School and Whangārei Women’s Jail.
