This course sets our new generation of freedivers/spearfishermen on the right and safest path to enjoy this sport.
Students build safe habits while advancing their watermanship skills and knowledge by learning how to be a responsible and effective diver.
The academics of this course have been specifically adapted by grade school teaching professionals to be easily digestible and fun. The junior freediver practical curricula offer students games and activities that cleverly integrate fundamental freediving skills and key safety protocols. During this course students are trained to dive to a maximum depth of 50 feet (15 meters). The junior freediver course has a maximum student–instructor ratio of 4:1, providing the safest and most effective learning experience for our new generation of free divers.

Itinerary
- Day 1: 7:45 AM – 12:00 PM classroom session, 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM confined water training
- Day 2: 8:00 AM – 11:00 AM open water dive at Two Step, 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM final exam and lunch

Arrive at Kona Honu Divers by 7:45 AM on Day 1; waivers must be signed in advance.
What to bring
- Personal freediving gear (mask, snorkel, fins, wetsuit)
- Towel, sunscreen, water, and hat
Special requirements
- Must be in good health with no heart conditions
- Complete the Medical Statement and obtain a physician’s approval if required
- Parents are encouraged to attend with their children

- All personal freediving gear is available for rent or purchase in the shop

- Do parents need to participate? Parents are encouraged but not required to attend.
- Is transportation provided? No, transportation is not provided. You will need to arrange your own transport.
Cancellations
Please be informed of our cancellation policy.
Full payment is due at the time of booking. You may make changes or cancellations to your reservation up to 72 hours prior to your course and receive a full refund. Cancellations made inside of 72-hours will not be refunded.
Lateness and no-shows
We ask all students to arrive promptly at the scheduled course time. Do not underestimate driving time. Morning traffic conditions are quite congested and slow moving, especially if you are staying South of Kailua-Kona and driving North to the harbor. It is your responsibility to arrive on time. There will be no refunds given for students that are more than 15 minutes late or that do not arrive for their intended course.
What if we cancel?
We reserve the right to cancel for any reason including, but not limited to weather, ocean conditions, student count, mechanical issues, safety for you, our students, and our instructors. We'll do our best to reschedule your course based on availability or you'll be issued a refund in full. We will contact you via the phone number and/or email address provided in the reservation. We are not responsible if we can not contact you for important information regarding the charter.
