Itinerary
6am - Fishing begins
Fishing begins with a "shotgun start" signaled by the patrol boat’s horn, initiated by the rangers
2:30pm - Fishing cutoff time for all anglers
2:30pm - 3:00pm - Final fish measurements will be taken
Proof of ticket purchase at measurement station
3:30pm - Announcement of winners and prize distribution by Lake Gregory. Attendees must be present to receive a prize

I purchased an All-Inclusive Pass, how do I get my parking pass?
Your parking pass will be waiting for you at the parking lot entrance at Bait & Tackle on the day of the derby. When you arrive, please have proof of your ticket purchase (either a printed or digital copy) ready to show at the entrance to receive your parking pass. As well as Valid ID.

FAQs
Do I need my CA state fishing license?
Yes, any person who is 16 years of age or older must have their CA State fishing license
Will you stock for the Derby?
YES, 2,000 pounds total. Will include rainbow trout, lightning trout, and 300 pounds of trophy size fish.
Can I utilize my own boat?
Yes, you may use your own water vessel. We allow durable, coastguard approved vessels only. A life vest must be onboard and accessible for each passenger. Gas Motors are not permitted. Vessels must be 16ft or less. Float tubes are permitted. A Lake Gregory boat launch pass is required and can be purchased at www.lakegregory.com.
You must also fill out this DFW777 form https://nrm.dfg.ca.gov/FileHandler.ashx?DocumentID=213375 online OR it will be available on site, day of event.
When can I launch my boat?
No boat launch until "shotgun start" signaled by the patrol boat’s horn.
Will there be boat rentals on the lake?
Yes. The Lake Gregory Boathouse hours are from 10am to 5pm. Please be mindful and respectful of all Lake Guests.
Can I fish before 6am?
No. The park is open sunrise to sunset. Rangers are actively patrolling the park to ensure rules are followed.
All Park rules still apply:
-No smoking
-No alcohol
-No glass bottles
-No BBQ/cooking
How many poles can I have?
You may have ONE fishing pole
What is the difference between General Admission and the All-Inclusive Pass?
The General Admission ticket ($25) provides entry into the trout derby, allowing you to participate in the fishing event. It does not include parking or a raffle entry.
The All-Inclusive Pass ($40) offers everything in the General Admission ticket, plus parking at the venue & more!
What is the entry limit per person?
One entry per person.
Can I purchase a ticket on the day of the event?
No, tickets must be purchased by April 18th at 9 PM. After this cutoff time, tickets will no longer be available for purchase, so be sure to secure your entry before then.
How is the winner determined?
The winner will be determined by the longest Trout caught during the derby. If there is a tie, we then go by the weight.
I purchased an All-Inclusive Pass, how do I get my parking pass?
Your parking pass will be waiting for you at one of the check-in station on the day of the derby. When you arrive, please have proof of your ticket purchase (either a printed or digital copy) ready to show at the entrance to receive your parking pass.
Is there a special prize category for kids?
Yes! We have a special kids' category with prizes for children 12 and under. To be eligible for this category, participants must be 12 years old or younger on the day of the event and must have a valid ticket for the derby. The winner will be determined by the longest Trout caught in this age group.
What are the prizes for the top three winners in both the adult and kids categories?
Best 3 Overall Fish (Regardless of Age):
- 1st Place: $1,000
- 2nd Place: $500
- 3rd Place: $250
Kids Category: - 1st Place: Summer Deluxe Pass(includes fishing pass)
- 2nd Place: Annual Fishing Pass
- 3rd Place: Rod and Reel Combo

Be sure to discard of any trash properly in designated bins. There are several fishing line receptacles available along the park's trails.
Cancellations
These tickets are non-refundable. The event will happen Rain or Shine.
