About
Our tours begin by the store and museum where you will hear the story of the surrounding area and the first residents of Laurel Valley. Then we will head to the rear of the property where we will cover the plantation’s history from the time of the beginning of the village’s construction through the early 20th century.
This portion of the walking tour begins on one end of the property, leads through the village, includes tours of several buildings, and ends at the ruins of our 19th century sugar mill. Topics will cover antebellum plantation life, slavery, the Civil War, Reconstruction and the sharecropper system, sugarcane farming, and more.
Please wear comfortable walking shoes.
