The Goal:

Did you know, an estimated 14 million items of litter clog and block our beautiful rivers and canals right now.

The canal and riverside trust has stated that if each person picked up one piece of litter every time they visit a canal, or river site, the issue would be resolved within a year!

Now, we know most people aren’t collecting coke cans or quavers packets on their Sunday morning stroll around their local waterways, but it doesn’t mean that we can’t still make a difference.

In 2024 we are reopening our River Clean Up project and we have set ourselves the biggest goal yet - to retrieve over ONE TON of litter from the River Soar.

Itinerary:

Starting Point: Proctors Park
After arriving and familiarising ourselves with the surroundings and kit, we will run through a safety briefing, then grab our litter pickers and collection bags, and head for the river. You will be joined on the water by one of our trained instructors who will guide you to the ideal locations to begin the collection.

Finishing off:
After the session has come to an end, we find ourselves back on dry land where we all of the litter we have removed from the river will be collated, weighed and the total amount added to our goal count.
