Highlights
"When King Ludwig II commissioned the construction of Neuschwanstein Castle in 1869, a remarkable blend of Romanesque and Gothic architecture, he could scarcely have imagined it would become the most photographed castle worldwide.
Often referred to as the "Fairy Tale King," Ludwig II's visionary castle remains a premier attraction for visitors to Munich and the Bavarian region.
Today, Neuschwanstein welcomes millions annually, solidifying its status as a top German tourist destination. Bus Bavaria, operated by Mike's Bike Tours, is proud to have facilitated the journeys of countless delighted tourists to this iconic landmark.
A visit to Neuschwanstein offers a profound immersion into the romantic vision of King Ludwig II. Upon first sight, one is transported to a realm of knights, castles, and timeless tales – a genuine fairy tale brought to life in Bavaria. It's no surprise that Neuschwanstein served as the primary inspiration for Disney's Cinderella Castle.
Our tour presents a unique perspective of the castle via bicycle. This route allows you to witness Neuschwanstein as King Ludwig II intended: a fantastical dream realized. Moreover, the bike tour showcases the breathtaking panoramas of the Bavarian Alps, verdant forests, and a tranquil lake near Schwangau.
Following the ride and a scenic lunch, you will explore the castle's interior. Inside, the lavish décor, celebrating medieval German romance and Richard Wagner's operas, awaits. The Throne Hall, with its elaborate design, evokes a sense of grandeur, reminiscent of a cinematic masterpiece.
Neuschwanstein Castle is an essential destination for any Bavarian visitor. With years of experience conducting day trips, we continue to find each visit to be a truly exceptional experience."

FAQs
Do I need cash - I have a cc?
Yes, you do need to bring cash to pay for the castle entry fees.
Do I have to swim?
No, you may however dip your feet in the water whilst the others take swim.
Do I need to bring a change of clothing after my swim?
Yes, that is not a bad idea, a towel is also a great idea.
What footwear is appropriate?
The tour entails walking and cycling so firm covered footwear is a good idea.
I am vegetarian, will I get somethign to eat?
Yes, of course, the Restaurant we use has a varied menu.
I am unfit, can I still do the hike up the hill?
We recommend using the bus as the hill is quite steep and some degree of fitness is needed. There also also many stairs in the Castle itself so we do suggest being semi-fit for the day in general.
Should I tip the guide?
Yes, please do. Our guides do not work the whole year around so any extra gratuites helps them through the winter or to travel. But only tip if you think they did a good job.
