The Niles Canyon Railway offers Spring and Summer field trips each year. The Pacific Locomotive Association, Inc. operates the Niles Canyon Railway as a living history museum interpreting the importance of our heritage railroads in the development of California and the nation. During the ride you will hear a docent talk about the history of railroads in Niles Canyon and the surrounding areas, and about the connection we have with the First Transcontinental Railroad.

Minimum of 75 passengers total for the train to run.

Open to schools, recreation groups, senior centers, daycare, families, and anyone who wants to ride during the week.

All passengers 3 and older are $8.48. Our trains depart on time and request passengers to arrive at least 20-30 minutes before departure. Reservations can be made online, and you will get your confirmation/invoice by email. Advance payment is requested 30 days prior to your ride, unless prior arrangements have been make with the station agent. Boarding tickets will be in Will Call at the ticket window. There are no refunds. You may arrange for payment on the day of your ride with the understanding that payment for all reservations is guaranteed. Please go to Operation Lifesaver, www.oli.org, and click on “Information for kids” and you will find coloring pictures, dot-to-dots, or word searches. Encourage your children to do an activity page, and inform our station agent the day of your ride how many children did an activity. We will provide you with a free child’s trip pass to exchange for a boarding ticket to ride on our regular Sunday train rides with his/her family. We recommend that you staple the trip pass to their completed activity page and return to the children.
