About
The AR-15 Skill Builder 1 (ARSB1) course is the first step in learning the capabilities of the carbine as a defensive tool in close quarters. Take the first step to becoming an effective marksman with our professional instructors.
This course is perfect for beginner to intermediate shooters with the AR-15 platform who are interested in enhancing their abilities. This course is geared towards anyone looking to learn how to use the AR-15 platform safely, effectively, and reliably as a defensive platform. Students will become familiarized with the AR-15 rifle and will learn the basic gun-handling skills that are necessary to safely operate this weapon system.
Details
- The class is available daily, subject to the availability of our Instructors and the Redwood Gun Club's schedule, running from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Redwood Gun Club in Manila.
- This is a AR-15-specific class.
- You will be shooting from 5-25 yards using our steel AR550 Silhouette targets.
- You will learn how to clear Type 1, 2, & 3 malfunctions.
- You will learn administrative loading and unloading, tactical reloads, and emergency reloads.
- Learn different ways to sling and unsling your AR-15.
- Learn LOW READY, HIGH READY, & FIELD READY shooting positions.
- Learn how to "sight-in" your AR-15.
- We will introduce stress inoculation tests at the end of class.
- This is a high-volume shooting course. Please bring 300-500 rounds of .223 or 5.56, depending on what your rifle requires. No reloads—ammo will be inspected to ensure it is new.
- Please review the “What to Bring” section below for gear requirements.
- Must be a minimum of 18 years old to register. Participants under 18 allowed with instructor approval and accompanied by a parent or guardian that is also enrolled in the course.
