Standard History Tour
Our docents will introduce you to the museum’s permanent Places gallery, the annual grand exhibition, (6th grade and up will visit the Stories of Rescue Exhibit) and the Historic Courtroom. Learn about the history of Palm Beach County; the architectural elements of the neoclassical, revival-style courthouse; and the elements of government.
Included:
- History of the 1916 Courthouse (Richard & Pat Johnson Hi-story Museum)
- How Palm Beach County got its name and how coconuts came to our area via the Providencia.
- Students will venture through the Grand Exhibition
- Visit the Palm Beach County Permanent Places Gallery
- 1916 Historic Courtroom
- Stories of Rescue Exhibit (6th grade and up)
Mock Trial & Mini Standard History Tour
This tour is 5th graders or older students and combines a shortened tour of the galleries with a first-hand civics lesson that challenges students. Participants receive a script ahead of time for a case relevant to the real world. Students role-play as trial attorneys, witnesses, clerks, and bailiffs. While all gaining a better understanding of law, court procedures, and our criminal and civil justice system. Advance preparation by students is required.
