Daily Boat, Tube and Equipment Rentals. NO SHUTTLE!

Charlottesville, VA

NO SHUTTLE INCLUDED | Kayaks, Canoes, SUPs, Tubes | Daily Rentals | Pick Up at Shop

Includes boat, life jacket and paddle rental for the day.
CUSTOMERS LOAD, TRANSPORTS, AND RETURNS EQUIPMENT. There is NO shuttle ride or equipment transport included in these rentals. Please go back to the main booking window to view and book a full-service river trip.

Customer Picks up at selected time, transports equipment and returns it by 5:00 pm on same day or between 8:30 and 9:30 am the following day. No after-hours returns allowed without express permission from RRC Staff.

Please note: Renting RRC equipment gives you, our customer, the right to park and launch using our facilities should you choose to do so. As a courtesy to you, our customer, we allow one additional person, riding in the same car as you, to launch with you using their own equipment. Unfortunately, on weekends, our launch area is too small and parking too limited for us to allow you to have multiple friends and other vehicles join you. You can meet them at a public landing, or you can advise them to launch at Darden Towe Park, just 1/2 mile upriver from our location, and then join them as they float past. On non-holiday weekdays only, people going on a trip with an RRC customer but using their own equipment can park and launch with for a $10 per car fee

Rates

  • Canoe Rental - $40
  • Single Sit in Kayak Rental - $32
  • Single Sit on top Kayak Rental - 32
  • Tandem Kayak - $40
  • Stand Up Paddleboard - $40
  • Tubes- $15

Kayaks– You can choose between our Sit-On-Top or Sit-In models. All the kayaks are comfortable and stable.
The Sit-On-Top and easy to get in and out of and won't fill up with water if they flip. We have tandem and solo Sit-On-Top kayaks.
The Sit-In kayaks will keep you a little drier and will appeal to those with experience in this type of boat.

Canoes- Old Town Discovery canoes are perfect boats for taking to rivers and flatwater with the family, the picnic lunch, and the dog. These tandem canoes are paddled by two, and a small child can ride in the center of the boat as well. Please note that canoes should be used on rivers with rapids (like the Rivanna) only by people with significant canoeing experience.

Stand-Up Paddleboards- Stand-Up Paddleboarding is a relatively new sport that combines the fun of paddling with the balance of surfing. Our SUPs are rigid inflatables that are light, easy to load and transport, track well over flat water, and are rugged enough to take on the river.

Tubes– Our river tubes are large vinyl tubes that are specially designed for your comfortable float trip. Sit back in one of these tubes and feel instantly relaxed!

Here are the options most customers use for these rentals:

For Tubing……
customers will typically float from our location to Riverview Park. Plan to leave a car at the take-out at Riverview Park (298 Riverside Ave, Charlottesville, VA) and then come to our location where you can pick up your tube and launch. Customers can either drive a second car to us or walk up the Rivanna Trail for 1.5 miles as it follows the river between Riverview Park and our location. At the end of the tubing trip the tubes can be deflated if necessary to bring them back in the customer's car.

For Canoes, Kayaks, and SUPs…
Some customers will transport the equipment to local lakes or other rivers (see: https://rivannarivercompany.com/local-paddling-destinations/)

Some customers will simply paddle back and forth on the river from our location. This is only possible at lower river levels when there is not much current (typical in the summer months, but please call us to make sure this will be a possibility on any give day). About 1/4 mile downriver of our location is a nice beach that can be a destination for such an outing. Beyond that rapids will prevent getting back upriver.

Some customers will set up their own river trip on the Rivanna. Options for this include:

-Transport equipment to Brook Hill River Park (2009 Rio Mills Rd, Earlysville) on the South Fork and paddle back to our shop (6.75 river miles) where a vehicle was previously staged.

-Launch at our shop and take out at Riverview Park (1.5 river miles) and transport equipment back to our shop using a previously staged vehilce (see tubing trip description above)

-Launch at our shop and take out at Milton Landing (Co. Rd. 793 of North Milton Road)(5.5 river miles, several Class II rapids) and transport equipment back to our shop using a previously staged vehicle.
