Sea kayaking is an innovative way to engage secondary school students in outdoor education and journey based programs. The passionate team of kayak instructors work with the students to provide a challenging but an exciting experience on water and outdoor activities. School tours can be conducted in Melbourne for half day programs, or enjoy full day programs at agreed upon locations.

Develop your skills in teamwork and leadership as the team guides you through navigation, trip planning, and camping. The team will lead you through this kayaking adventure, with a chance to interact with wildlife in the area, such as dolphins and sea eagles. Provide your students the opportunity to camp at remote beaches, fish in new locations, and sail across the sea - reflecting on your sea kayaking journey as a group each day. This unique bonding experience demonstrates alternative ways to work together and independently, as students are encouraged to discover the outdoors and expand their skill set.

Pricing

Pricing includes 13-24 students and is dependent on the duration of the experience and selected location. Ensure to contact us directly for an accurate quote for your group size and requested activities. Schools are exempt from GST and will have this component refunded. For alternate locations than listed on our site, contact us to organise and arrange a new location. Our training Kayak Training Center is located at 37 Jetty Road Sandringham - a short walk from Hampton train stations.

Sit on Top Kayaks based at training centre 37 Jetty Road, Sandringham. With the best lee and fetch, this is the most ideal location to paddle in Port Phillip Bay! This can be arranged for a school between two session times: 9 am - 12 pm, or alternatively, 1 pm - 4 pm.

2 Hours - $795
3 Hours - $895
Schools are exempt from GST and will have this component refunded.

As only one school can make a 4 hour booking in one day, the price is set separate to the previous booking times. Inquire for an accurate quote for 4 hour bookings.

Half Day Sea Kayaks at an agreed upon locations follow similar timeframes of two sessions: 9 am - 12 pm, or alternatively, 1 pm - 4 pm for a 2.5 hour booking. However, a booking between 3-5 hours can be made anytime between 9-5. These locations include, Boat House Drive, Dockland library, Hawthorn Boat Ramp, and Wesley Boat Ramp. Inquire for accurate pricing dependent on chosen hours.

Dress Code

• Old runners (no crocs, thongs, slides, or sandals)
• Board shorts (quick dry shorts) - no pants!
• Thermal or fleece top
• Light rain jacket
• Cap and a buff combination - available on The Kayak Shop Australia

Students and staff should arrive ready to paddle with old runners and sun-smart attire - even in winter!

Ensure to bring a hat, sun glasses, and a bottle of water to stay hydrated!

We advise a cheaper pair of sunnies be used as we often lose a few each session.

It is expected that schools will supply sunscreen and hand sanitiser.

Transportation

Our preferred method of transportation is self drive buses as this allows us to navigate to an ideal kayaking location and allow for more flexibility to forecast the journey. We are able to meet the school group at either a city location, our training center in Sandringham, or at Hawthorn station. Please ensure to let us know the chosen mode of transportation as it may impact our journey plans.
