We start our journey to the site of the Portuguese victory over the Castilians (Alcobaça monastery), which would have dictated the continuity of independence, celebrated in 1385 with the construction of the Monastery of Batalha, a flaming hymn to Portuguese Gothic art, and later a testimony of the singular Manueline art.

Next we move to the Batalha monastery founded in 1178 by the Order of Cîteaux whose knowledge and development has always been linked to these lands, there are many historical and artistic aspects that we will discover throughout the visit to the Monastery.

We continue towards the high Castle of Tomar, noble protector of the city and the Convent of Christ. Closely linked to the founding of the kingdom of Portugal and the presence of the Templar Knights, what we can see today is the result of centuries of history, influenced by several dynasties and mastery of important architects who left their mark here. From the imposing complex that makes up the Convent, the highlights are the “Charola” and “Janela Manuelina”.
