About
The Waimakariri is one of Canterbury’s largest and favourite rivers.
The Waimakariri is a grade 1-2 river so is pretty mellow and perfect for the kids.
Flowing from the glacial mountains of the Arthurs Pass National park to then enter the ocean just north of Christchurch after traveling 151 kilometers.
In Māori, Waimakariri has several meanings, one of which is “river of cold rushing water”.
Our Waimakariri day trip starts with an exciting jet-boat ride up river, 360 spins, amazing gorges and spectacular scenery.
After we reach our chosen destination we leave the Jet-boat and hit dryland for lunch before we board the rafts for a leisurely float back down stream, giving you the opportunity to take in the breathtaking scenery between the fun rapids that will have the kids fizzing.
