This intimate kayak experience launches from the dock of the historic and charming Captain Whidbey Inn. Learn and discuss the history, habitat and aquaculture of Penn Cove while you paddle along bluffs fringed with stately Madrona trees, under the watchful eyes of eagles and seals.
What's included
Trained, experienced local guide, quality tandem (2-person) kayaks, paddles, life jackets, half-spray skirts, dry bags and waterproof cell phone cases(fits most phones).
We use high-quality, adjustable sea kayaks and lightweight paddles. Our tandems allow individuals with various strengths and skills to paddle together.
We have a large variety of lifejackets to fit all body types.
Itinerary
Before we leave the dock, you’ll get to know your guide(s) and the equipment. Our staff will assist you into your boat which will require some physical mobility to move from sitting on the dock into your kayak but be assured, our team make sure you are properly outfitted and comfortable. As we launch, we'll paddle east out to open waters taking in the Cascades, learning about Penn Cove Shellfish Co and exploring Whidbey's coastline in the search for wildlife. Cap your adventure with a drink or meal at the restaurant of The Captain Whidbey, enjoying a front-seat views of the cove.

Please check-in 15 minutes before your activity start time. Please do not be late. Parking and bathrooms are available.
What to bring
• Bottle of water
• Skin and eye protection (sunglasses and/or a hat with a brim)
• Synthetic, athletic clothes
• Footwear that can get sandy or wet (or go barefoot)
• Avoid cotton clothing like jeans and sweatshirts; they dry slowly and are chilly when wet
Special requirements
Children under the age of 18, must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Restrictions
As mentioned above, some physical mobility is required - you will need to sit on the dock and then move into a seated position in the kayak. When the tour is done, you will move from the kayak back to the dock and then raise onto your knees before you stand up. Our team will be there to assist.

Disclaimers
All participants must sign a waiver prior to participation. Waivers will be sent by email once booked. By signing the waiver, participants knowingly assume any and all risks from the activities and agree to release the company and its representatives from liability, even in cases of negligence. Participants also agree to follow all of our safety rules, including wearing a personal flotation device (PFD) at all times and refraining from use of intoxicating substances as complies with Washington state laws prohibiting boating under the influence (BUI).
Cancellations
Because we keep our group sizes small and respect our team's time and energy, we cannot make exceptions to our cancellation policy.
Payment is due at time of reservation for all activities, including tours, rentals, and classes.
Full refunds will be given for cancellations up to 2 weeks/14 days of the activity.
Cancellations made less than 2 weeks/13 days or less of the activity will receive a 50% refund on a gift card with no expiration date.
No refunds will be given for any cancellations made with notice of 48 hours or less.
No refunds will be given for no-shows.
For GROUPS OF 8 OR MORE that are doing a PRIVATE or CUSTOM activity, a deposit of $500 is required to book the event, with the remaining balance to be charged 2 weeks prior to the event, which is also when we require the final total of participants. The deposit is fully refundable up to 2 weeks/14 days of the activity. A minimum gratuity of 15% will be added for private and custom groups of 8 or more.
We reserve the right to cancel any trip or rental due to adverse water or weather conditions, including small craft advisory strength winds, heavy and consistent rain, dense fog, and/or unhealthy levels of smoke. During these occasions, we will work hard to reschedule. If this fails, customers will be given the option to have their payment issued as an electronic gift card or a full refund. We do not cancel or reschedule activities because of cloudy skies or light rain.
We realize and understand that plans change, people get sick, and life happens. But we also will adhere to our policies. So please contact us as soon as possible if you need to cancel, reschedule or change the number in your party for the activity for any reason.
