Since its establishment as a museum in 2014, Whitney Plantation has been more than a historical landmark; it has become a beacon for truth, remembrance and resilience in telling the stories of enslaved people in Louisiana.
Join Whitney Plantation's staff and board of directors in celebrating the museum's first ten years at this fundraising gala.
This event will be emceed by award-winning journalist and author, co-host of CBS Saturday Morning Michelle Miller Morial.
Event co-chairs are the Honorable Marc H. Morial, former Mayor of New Orleans and president of the National Urban League and Helena Moreno, New Orleans City Council President.
We will hold a special tribute to honor the legacy of Sybil Haydel Morial, a legendary civil rights activist and descendant of Whitney Plantation, who passed away this year.
Live music by Sunpie Barnes, Dr. Michael White, and Opera Creole will entertain guests. Small bites from local restaurants as well as beer and wine will be served.
The party begins at 6 PM at the Sugar Mill on Convention Center Boulevard in New Orleans.
Attire is semi-formal and festive.

What's not included
The general admission ticket does not include a seated table. Tables are reserved for event sponsors.
There is no dedicated parking for this event. Parking will be on the street or in paid lots near the Sugar Mill on Convention Center Boulevard in New Orleans. Guests local to New Orleans may prefer to take a taxi or ride-share.

This event is located in New Orleans, LA at the Sugar Mill at 1021 Convention Center Boulevard. It is not held at the Whitney Plantation in Wallace.
Cancellations
Tickets to the 10th anniversary gala are nonrefundable. If you are unable to attend, your ticket price will be considered a donation to The Whitney Institute.
